Founded by German physician Samuel Hahnemann, in 1796. The homoeopathic doctrine is called Similia Similibus Curentur, or "like cures like". Homeopathic preparations are termed remedies and are made using homoeopathic dilutions. Hahnemann's theory of disease, is centered around principles he termed miasms.
The Government of India recognizes homeopathy as one of its national systems of medicine and they are sold with medical claims. It has established the Department of AYUSH under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. A minimum of a recognized diploma in homeopathy and registration on a state register or the Central Register of Homoeopathy is required to practice homeopathy in India.
